Our 11th year is off and running!
We got right to it almost immediately after the New Year began with our return to the Liquid Lounge on Friday, January 3rd. We hadn’t visited this classic rock room since September, so it was great to be back and bring with us a whole slew of new covers that the audience at this neighbourhood bar had yet to hear.
If it’s been awhile since you’ve heard us live, some of the additions you’ve missed include ‘For Your Love’ by the Yardbirds, ‘I Fought the Law’ by the Bobby Fuller Four and ‘Runaround Sue’ by Dion.
We have even expanded our country repertoire as of late with such standards as ‘the Gambler’ by Kenny Rogers, ‘King of the Road’ by Roger Miller and ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ by Billy Ray Cyrus.
Jeff has even taken to showing off his twerking skills during the latter!
On Sunday, January 5th, we made our second appearance at what is arguably the finest venue in the county, the Brantford Golf & Country Club. After a hectic holiday season, their staff was ready to let loose at the Christmas party.
A terrific time was had by all and we look forward to returning to the Brantford Golf & Country Club again in April as the entertainment for the Mixed Curling League’s year-end bash.
Despite this ambitious and energetic start to 2014, the number of live shows has quieted right down; we currently have nothing on the calendar until the third Saturday in March.
However, this could all change at a moment’s notice, as we continue to wait on call backs from a few of our regular venues.
Even though it may appear as if we’ll have plenty of downtime over the next several weeks, we’ll be hard at work behind-the-scenes adding even more new tunes and getting the ball rolling regarding our recent MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT.
ICYMI, on Monday, January 20th, we released some very big news – Phase I of what we see as a two-part project. This coming Sunday, for the very first time, BarCode will step into the recording studio.
The Brantford Arts Block will open its doors to the Best Live Music, Bar None! as we set out to capture the energy and magic of our live show in a single marathon session.
We hope to commit at least 10-15 songs to ‘tape’, reserving one of these select gems for a higher purpose, Phase II, which will be announced at a later date. It could be weeks or even a month down the road, but trust us when we say it’ll be worth the wait.
