Another year quickly draws to close…

The last few weeks have kept us pretty busy and although we started November with no shows on the schedule, we certainly weren’t sitting still. New songs were in the works and we’ve added 5 new covers from the Animals, Grand Funk Railroad, Lonestar and Marvin Gaye.

On top of these additions, we worked hard to bring back a few BarCode classics, some of which we haven’t played since 2005. Blue Rodeo, Del Shannon and Kenny Loggins are just some of the artists in this category.

The combined new and recycled material was brought to the stage in front of a packed and receptive house at McGonagalls Pub on Saturday, November 19th, during Harry Potter’s Dirty Thirty.

Tons of family and friends were out to help Jeff celebrate his birthday with style and yes, when it was all said and done, he was hurting for most of the day on Sunday.

The following Friday saw us perform for the last time this year - and possibly the last time ever - at the Oxford Circus, as the staff has confirmed that the British-style restaurant and pub will close in February.

We hope to pick up at least one more appearance there in the new year, but if not, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank both Sue and Dan for booking us over the last two years; all the best in 2012!

On Saturday, November 26th, we made our way to the Best Western - Brant Park Inn for the first time in nearly 5 years to play a wedding in the Pauline Johnson room. The hotel staff and guests had heard great things and were eager to see us perform. Thanks to the bride and groom; it was a privilege to be part of your special day.

The first Saturday of December was our first appearance at Northridge Public Golf Course during the annual Christmas party for Brantford Parks & Recreation.

There were some familiar faces in the crowd that evening and we had a ball once everyone finally hit the dance floor to swing along to their favourite songs.

Finishing off the 2011 schedule was our stop at the Warehouse Diner on Saturday, December 17th. Our 40th show of the year, we were happy to donate our time to the Jason Chausic Memorial Benefit.

It was a successful evening with several thousand dollars being raised to help the family cover the cost of Jason’s funeral and other expenses associated with his passing.

Looking ahead to 2012, we have a respectable number of gigs on the calendar already, as we get set to return to the Liquid Lounge in Brantford and both Angelo’s and the Norfolk Tavern in Port Dover.

Keep an eye on Upcoming Shows; more gigs are sure to be added soon!

And with all of that out of the way, we’d like to take a moment to thank everyone for another successful year. From the people who book us, recommend us and help spread the BarCode gospel, to those who lend us gear and do their best to make every single show - it is because of you that we’re able to continue doing what we do.

And for that… we thank you!

Here comes year number nine…
