The time has come to say ‘so long’ to summer!
The entire season was a whirlwind of personal appearances that saw us criss-crossing through several counties, including Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk and Wellington North.
After enjoying some time to ourselves over the Civic Holiday weekend, we were back at it on Saturday, August 8th for the 6th running of the Brantford Kinsmen Ribfest.
Cockshutt Park was packed during our evening timeslot, as friends and strangers alike enjoyed saucy and succulent ribs, chicken and pulled pork, set to a soundtrack of the Best Live Music, Bar None!
On Saturday, August 15th, the eve of our 12th anniversary, we rolled on up through the Waterloo Region to visit our friends in Wellington North during the Canadian Ford & Mercury Truck Nationals at the Arthur Fairgrounds.
It was another scorcher and the final of our five car and truck shows this summer, featuring an array of beautiful Ford and Mercury models. We were able to arrive early enough this year to enjoy a pork and corn roast and take in the vehicle parade as it left the property to tour around town.
The following Saturday saw us entertaining at the Sommerville Summer Bash, at the home of our friends Tammy and Barry. It was rewarding to see so many of our friends in the same place, partying it up and enjoying one ‘sociable’ after another.
With over 100 guests who each brought their favourite dishes to share, it was the most food we have ever seen in one place! Plus, there was an outstanding 13 varieties of Jell-O shots, 250 in total.
And as if their bash couldn’t get any more awesome, that night we presented our BarCode Fan of the Year Award. Congratulations to this year’s recipient, Theresa Pellizzari, a long-time friend and supporter of the band.
We headed back to Haldimand County during the early morning hours of Saturday, August 29th, to set up for the wedding of Kristine and Paolo.
It was a quaint country celebration on their own property in between Hagersville and Springvale and we were delighted to be a part of their special day.
This was the first time in recent memory that we performed a show where none of our regular crowd was in attendance. Everyone that we entertained that evening was experiencing us for the first time.
A stellar night was had by all and we received quite a few compliments on our collection of covers, most notably the early rock ‘n’ roll and British Invasion material.
Even though it seemed as if it had barely started, our summer came to abrupt end on Saturday, September 5th, as we travelled back down to Port Dover to entertain at the legendary Norfolk Tavern.
We hit the Labour Day weekend crowd hard with rip-roaring renditions of their favourite Classic Rock and Top 40 covers; it was the perfect way to sign off on another sensational season.
Up next, Thanksgiving weekend will be a busy one for us as we take to the stage at OLG Casino Brantford for the very first time on Friday, October 9th and the following night, Saturday, October 10th, we’ll head back down to Port Dover for our final appearance of the year at the Norfolk Tavern.
We’ll close out the month on Saturday, October 31st at the Hagersville Community Center, entertaining for the Lions Club Halloween Dance. Event details and tickets will be available shortly.
