Our eleventh year is quickly drawing to a close!

Originally, October was scheduled to be a quiet month with only one appearance on the calendar, but a couple of relatively last minute bookings turned that around for us in a matter of days.

On Thursday, October 2nd, we hit the patio at the all new B•Doggs on Colborne St., entertaining during their grand opening party. It was a fantastic evening of fun, complete with food and drink samples, swag and the Best Live Music, Bar None!

We even took it upon ourselves to create a jingle for the occasion, rewriting the lyrics of ‘Bird Dog’ by the Everly Brothers to ‘B•Doggs’, referencing specific items on their menu, the drive-thru, etc.

It was such a huge hit with both the staff and patrons that we ended up performing it a total of four times throughout the evening. As thanks for a job well done, they treated us to a full-size round of El Camino ’72s after the show.

So far it’s our favourite dog on the menu, featuring jalapenos, sriracha, cream cheese, chives, sour cream and most importantly… bacon!

Tongue-in-cheek, we dubbed October ‘grand opening month’ on Saturday the 18th as we headed east towards Brampton for our first show at All Stars Classic Bar & Grill.

This sports bar had recently undergone a change in ownership, a cosmetic redesign and an overhaul of their menu with help from Doug Radkey and his team at Key Restaurant Group in Brantford.

Needless to say, by the time the grand re-opening night came along and we were all set up, they were ready to let loose and celebrate all of their dedication and hard work.

The owners and staff treated us like gold and we had an absolutely unbelievable time watching the chicken wing-eating contest, sampling their spread of delicacies and entertaining their guests.

We hope to be back in Brampton really soon!

Rounding out the month was another first, our debut visit to Cameron’s Brewing Company in Oakville on Thursday, October 30th during their Halloween Cask Night.

Cameron’s monthly Cask Nights are quite the unique event; bands play live on the brewery floor in between the bottling machines as the beers are being poured and served!

Clever costumes, a custom cask of pumpkin ale and tasty grub from Whole Food Markets rounded out the experience. We hope to be back at this craft brewing outlet sometime in the spring.

On Saturday, November 1st, we returned to the Tin Cup Sports Grill in Brantford for the first time since April. Although some of our regular crowd were missing in action, we were joined by a few folks we haven’t seen out in quite awhile, including some of Jeff’s former Sobeys colleagues.

Next weekend will be a busy one filled with birthday celebrations, as we visit the Eagle’s Nest Tap & Grill on Friday, November 14th for our friend (and Andy’s niece) Kelly’s birthday and McGonagalls Pub the following evening to party it up for Harry Potter’s 33⅓.

These two shows will be our final public appearances for 2014.

On Saturday, November 22nd, we’ll head to the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Brantford for the first time since 2007, entertaining a familiar circle of friends for Nadine’s 50th.

We already know this will be a night to remember!
